道 Tao/Dao

This work features the Chinese character 道 (Dao/Tao) rendered in an original calligraphy by B.A. Cotton in bold, expressive ink. The brushstrokes are deliberate yet fluid, balancing weight and motion in a single unified form. Each stroke carries visible intention—pressure, release, pause—reflecting the living rhythm of traditional calligraphy.

In classical Chinese philosophy, Dao means the Way: the underlying order of nature, the path through which all things arise, move, and return. It is not a doctrine or destination, but a process—one that unfolds through alignment rather than force.
